Overview
In FY 2012, Chiba University started an international teacher training program for the students with the support of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This program consists of two stages. First, the students majoring in education develop their lessons in cooperation with the students majoring in science, engineering, agriculture etc. Next, the students conduct the lessons they developed on advanced science and technology of Japan at the high schools in ASEAN countries. This program has resulted in fruitful outcomes not only for the Chiba University students but also for the students in ASEAN countries. Through this program, Chiba University and the consortium universities in ASEAN countries have developed good relationships. As the next step, Chiba University and the consortium universities in ASEAN countries have launched a joint study which contributes to global teacher education. To accelerate this activity, Chiba University established the “Asia & ASEAN Center for Educational Research” on 1st February 2018. The “Asia & ASEAN Center for Educational Research” welcomes the new consortium universities from not only ASEAN countries but also from all Asia.
